Audit Log

The audit log records all security-relevant actions in DATAZONE Control. It provides a complete trail of who made which changes and when.

Access

Access the audit log via Settings > Audit Log.

Logged Actions

The audit log captures the following, among others:

User Actions

  • Login and logout
  • Password changes
  • MFA activation/deactivation

Host Management

  • Adding and removing hosts
  • Configuration changes
  • Group assignments

Executions

  • Script executions (with results)
  • Update executions
  • Tunnel creation/termination
  • Shell sessions

Administration

  • Creating/editing/deleting users
  • Creating/editing roles
  • Changing settings
  • Branding changes

Log Entries

Each entry contains:

Filtering and Searching

Time Range Filter

Select a time range to narrow down entries:

  • Last hour / 24 hours / 7 days / 30 days
  • Custom time range

Search log entries by:

  • Username
  • Action
  • Hostname
  • Free text

Exporting

Audit log entries can be exported:

  1. Set the desired filters
  2. Click Export
  3. Select the format (CSV)

Retention

Audit log entries are stored permanently in the database. There is no automatic cleanup -- all entries are retained.

Compliance

The audit log supports compliance requirements such as:

  • ISO 27001 - Traceability of changes
  • GDPR - Logging of data access
  • BSI IT-Grundschutz - Audit-proof documentation

Recommendation

Review the audit log regularly for unusual activity, especially:

  • Login attempts outside business hours
  • Unexpected configuration changes
  • Frequent failed login attempts
