Groups & Virtual Modules
Host groups organize your infrastructure logically. You can group hosts across modules and display them as virtual modules in the navigation.
Managing Groups
Access group management via the Groups navigation item.
Creating a Group
- Click Create Group
- Configure the group:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Name of the group |
| Description | Purpose of the group |
| Color | Color code for display |
| Customer | Optional: Restrict to a specific customer |
Colors
Groups are displayed as colored chips/badges in the host tables. Choose a distinctive color to visually differentiate groups.
Assigning Hosts
Single Assignment
- Open a host in the detail modal
- Select the Groups tab
- Click Assign Group
- Select one or more groups
Bulk Assignment
- Select multiple hosts using the checkboxes
- Click Assign Group in the bulk action bar
- Select the target group
Display in Tables
In the host tables, the Groups column shows colored chips with the assigned groups. The colors make group memberships recognizable at a glance.
Virtual Modules
Virtual modules are special groups that appear as their own tab in the main navigation.
Creating a Virtual Module
- Create a group (as described above)
- Enable the option Show as Virtual Module
- The group appears as a new tab in the navigation
Use Cases
Virtual modules are ideal for:
- Location-based views - e.g., "Data Center North", "Branch Office South"
- Project groups - e.g., "Migration Project", "Test Environment"
- Customer dashboards - All hosts of a customer across modules
- Critical systems - Collection of all important hosts
Feature Set
Virtual modules offer the same features as regular modules:
- Host table with search and filter functionality
- Context menu actions
- Bulk operations
The difference: A virtual module displays hosts from different modules in a single table.
Filtering by Group
In the host tables, you can filter by group:
- Click on a group chip to show only hosts of that group
- Or use the group filter in the toolbar
